The Regional Suicide Prevention Committee (RSPC) is happy to announce the hiring of two Suicide Prevention Liaison Workers (SPLW), a measure recommended through Ilusiliriniqmi Pigutjiutini Qimirruniq (clinical project).

These positions are key in raising awareness and mobilizing individuals as well as communities around the issue of suicide. The Inuulitsivik Health Center has selected Martha Inukpuk-Iqaluk from Inukjuak to coordinate efforts on the Hudson coast and the Ungava Tulattavik Health Center has hired Suzy Kauki from Kuujjuaq for the Ungava coast. Martha and Suzy are well known for their community involvement in suicide prevention.

The SPLWs’ mandate is to coordinate suicide prevention efforts on their coast and support communities in establishing their action plan and putting in place local projects. The SPLWs are working closely with the Regional Suicide Prevention Committee to facilitate the implementation of the measures recommended through Ilusiliriniqmi Pigutjiutini Qimirruniq.
